what we’re about

We all have many years of experience in the Canadian rock scene. Too many shows to remember – we should have written them all down! Each member of the band brings so much individually to the band that we end up with an exciting collection of live moments, great feel and vibe that comes from experience and a shared vision and direction. The ExStatics have come together for our love of rock favourites that are likely playing through the house speakers right now.

The core of our band has been together for three years but Ryan and Geoff make it seem like so many more – we have a such a strong rhythm section. A solid groove where the audience just feels that strong pull to the dance floor. We top that off with every band member singing harmony over cover versions that are faithful to the original songs, while still having unique moments and arrangements that make it exciting to hear a song you love – without straying so far it’s unrecognizable!

Karen gives us the flexibility to sing the high notes of some amazing female artists while delivering the power called for in the the rock and alternative genres. Always pouring her heart into her performances and loving the energy of the crowd – it’s obvious she’s doing what she loves. And you need a distortion pedal or two! Alex and Nick support Karen in the high register with trading-off guitar rhythm and lead duties to ramp up the energy even further. We might extend some of the solos too…

The ExStatics are always improving and finessing our live show because we love the connection and excitement that comes from creating thrilling moments in front of an engaged and passionate audience. You want to feel like you’re in good hands when a band steps on stage and that’s what we do, again and again. We always want to draw in new crowds and entertain locals with a memorable show.

We give love to all of the decades of modern rock! Some bands we like to add to our sets are: The Black Keys, The Tragically Hip, The Killers, Jimmy Eat World, Franz Ferdinand, The Foo Fighters, INXS, Bif Naked and Alanis Morisette. We take some liberties and also indulge some fans by adding: “Dirty Laundry”, Take On Me”, “Zombie”, “Mama” by The Glorious Sons, “Heroes” by David Bowie and “Cars” by Gary Numan. We mentioned The Hip, right?
